Overlapping the timbers
My husband and son placed these timbers overlapping where the timbers joined for strength. You can see that this bed has settled some and seperated a bit on the top layer. That's to be expected.

Clips and holders
This shows how the clips and holders were attached to the inside of the timbers. These are used to hold up the hoops, which holds the Agribon fabric off the plants.

Potato boxes...
We got the idea of these from the Irish-eyes catalog but couldn't afford the lumber they used in their example. Our son had bought an old packing crate that was 7 feet deep x 7 feet long x 4 feet wide and made of various types of plywood, from a moving company. He bought one to tear apart to build 2 dog houses for the mals. So, I got the idea to get another one to tear apart and cut down in order to build the boxes using these packing crates. Paid $35 for each crate and got a fair amount of plywood to use for these projects.
Each piece on the sides is added as the potatoes need hilled higher. We started out with 2 and then added another one in this box when it was needed.
